The history of heineken

The history of Heineken is much older than the brewery. In 1873, Gerardus Heineken acquired a small brewery in Amsterdam, where he produced beers and some soft drinks. In 1875, his son Gerardus (1843-1916) took over the family brewery. A year later, he bought a new hop distilling machine, which considerably increased the beer production at the Amsterdam site.
