All about Chido shirts

On the occasion of the Mural festival which took place in Montreal, from June 09 to 19. We went to meet the team of Chido. Chido is a brand created by Loic Geyer in Sayulita, Mexico. We asked him some questions about Chido shirts.

Chido's story:

Mexico and Sayulita - magical and surreal - brought together two Frenchmen and an Argentinean who had traveled through different places and because of those life circumstances we encountered. At first it was not easy because they did not know how to speak Spanish; but we tried: we started to be friends, to know each other, to have common tastes and to communicate in different ways. The language was not a limitation, but a new opportunity to bond. We never thought we would get this far.

What buttons do Chido's shirts have?

If there is something cool and makes a difference, it is the coconut buttons that the shirts of Chido Marca have, because they integrate perfectly with the natural fibers of their fabrics, the look is to transform and complete a fashion that marks the personality, is conscious and socially responsible. . The coconut is the tree of a thousand uses and one of them is to manufacture high quality buttons, its quality is that this product is made with the shell of the fruit and this allows it to retain its natural color, in turn, it has the characteristic of being a resistant and durable material over time and this gives the opportunity to take advantage of natural resources as raw material.

What materials do you use?

What local products can be found in Sayulita?

Chido Marca is a small company that manages to materialize its products through networking, with the aim of promoting and collaborating in the development of the local production system. The impact of local consumption is not only the promotion of economic growth, but also a way to preserve the environment and promote responsible consumption.

This brand was born and grew in Sayulita, a village located on the west coast of the Pacific in the state of Nayarit, Mexico, and from there it decided to work in a regenerative and active way with the community, showing its product through the people who inhabit it, making visible the artists, designers, sportsmen and traders who inhabit this territory and making the whole social fabric that supports it on a daily basis shine. Chido, installs its main activities there, developing the manufacture, distribution and logistics of the shirts, the north being fixed on the need to arm a tribe and to embody by its doing a new way of seeing the world.

Are the shirts unisex?

That's why his shirts are genderless, that is to say unisex, for Chido diverse identities escape the molds, labels do not exist, he breaks stereotypes and explodes the old dichotomy man-woman to highlight personal choices. This brand understands that clothing has no gender, that's why it defines itself by not being segmented but making clothes with different designs and sizes that propose not to label us and use those things that question us, because he knows that having a global vision look at where there are no borders or binary limits between feminine or masculine, we can create a freer, fairer and more equal world.
